Arrival in Cusco - クスコ1日目

Here we are, at 3400 meters and sitting pretty!

来ました！標高3400mに位置する町クスコ。富士山の頂上にいる感じでしょうか。空気薄いです。止まってると大丈夫ですが、少し歩くと(特に坂道)ぜぇぜぇと息苦しい感があります(´Д｀;)
一応高山病予防薬のダイアモックスを昨日から飲んでいるので高山病の心配はないと思います。

We got up early this morning and flew from Lima to Cusco. I could feel how thin the air was when we got out of the airplane and walked to the terminal. We took a cab into town and WOW - what a different vibe from Lima. Now we're in Peru, I thought. Street-side markets, cobblestone streets, statues, and rebar reaching out of the tops of the buildings. Just red, rocky, chaotic beauty!

クスコの町はほんときれいで都会のリマと違ってペルーの味が出ています。
泊まっているホテルはオランダ人の人が経営していてヨーロピアンな感じがとても素敵なホテルです。
着いて早々あの""コカティー"を頂きました！コカティーはあのコカインを生成できる植物コカノキの葉っぱにお湯を入れて飲むもので、ハーブティーみたいな感じ。もちろんドラッグのコカインみたいにハイになるとか中毒になるとかは一切ないです。
コカティーの葉っぱは普通にお店で売られているけど、アメリカや日本への持ち込みは違法なので残念ながらお土産としては持って帰れません・・(>_<)ちなみにコカティーは高山病に効くとされてるみたいです。

We're staying at Nino's Hotel - a little pricier than most hotels, but clean and comfortable. They greeted us with coca tea - green tea with floating coca leaves. The locals drink this and it's fabled to help new-comers with altitude sickness. Between the tea (not that good tasting, btw - and no, we didn't get high) and the diamox, we're doing fine!

We checked in with our inca trail guide, Llama Path and squared things away with them. Then we walked around the plazas and had a set-menu lunch for 10 soles ($3.66). We encountered some awesome inca stones behind and around the cathedrals. Then we stopped to sit in a square where we were accosted by artisans with babies on their backs. Kaori bought a couple cute hand-carved gourds and that only encouraged them. We had to make a run for it and ended up back at the hotel for a nap and (up next) some dinner.

お昼はメインプラザの近くで食べたんですが、いきなり楽器を持ったおじさん4人組みがレストランに入ってきて伝統音楽を弾き始めました♫
夕飯はホテル付属のレストランで食べました。自家製カボチャスープ＆手作りパンにバナナやアーモンドその他のフルーツを入れて煮込んだチキンカレーととてもやさしい味の料理でした)^-^(
